My Review
Thoughts on the book: The Amateurs: Last Seen is the third and final book in the series by Pretty Little Liars author Sara Shepard. Our favourite gang are back and raring to go after discovering that Aerin had been taken by Brett in the last moments of book 2 The Amateurs: Follow Me. We pick up straight where we left off in the previous book and Seneca, Maddox and Madison all start on a new case that Brett presents to them where a young boy has gone missing from his home and of course there are no leads. But this case seems to be different from the others. Brett seems to have a personal connection to this case and as the team delve deeper into this case they discover that they just may discover who Brett actually is and why he is the way he is. As they close in on the kidnapper, Brett becomes sloppy and Seneca, Maddox and Madison just may be able to take him down as well. Will all of the gang make it out of this case alive and will they finally catch Brett and see justice done?

A massive thank you to the team at Allen and Unwin for sending me a copy of The Amateurs: Last Seen by Sara Shepard to read and review. This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2018 as I have been following the series since book 1 came out. The Amateurs series is like a grown up version of The Scooby Doo Gang where a group of friends who met on the online group Case Not Closed and quickly became friends while trying to solve previous cases that have been deemed unsolvable. The group has been through some tough times thanks to one of their ex-members turned killer Brett. But in book 3 he has gone too far and has kidnapped one of their own. Aerin always seemed to catch Brett's eye wherever she went and Brett didn't seem to care that Aerin was in the early stages of a relationship with Thomas. So upon kidnapping her the team deem to work harder then ever to discover just who Brett is and to solve this latest case that he has set before them.

I loved that in this last book of the series we got an insight into how Brett became the person he is, learnt more about his upbringing and 'family' and what is happening in his mind during all of this. Sara Shepard really knows how to write a villain and how to in a way make you feel sorry for them because their backstory normally isn't pretty and they have had to endure some hard times that have made them the way they are. She also knows how to write characters that are so different from each other yet seem to come together to make a group that just fits your needs perfectly.

I couldn't have asked for a more perfect ending to this series and I have hope that there may be more from these characters in the future as Sara wrote the ending very open so that it could be interpreted that there may be other books including Brett in the future.
