My Review
Thoughts on the book: The Life+Death Parade is the latest novel from Eliza Wass, author of In The Dark Woods. Kitty seems to be cursed, everyone she cares about seems to leave her, her mother died and now her boyfriend Nikki has died. Kitty just doesn't know how to live now and struggles through each day wondering what happened to Nikki to cause his death and the events that lead up to it. It all started when Kitty, Nikki and his brother Macklin attended a party and Nikki goes to see a psychic who tells him that he has no future and when we flash forward a year later Nikki has died. The whole Bramley family have been affected by Nikki's death and it seems that no one is able to move on. But when Kitty tracks down the boat that the psychic was on she meets Roan who seems to know what everyone in the family and Kitty needs to make peace with what happened. But as Kitty delves more into Nikki's and Roan's past she discovers something way more sinister. Could Nikki's death have been more complicated then it seemed?

Thank you so much to Hachette Australia for sending me a copy of The Life+Death Parade by Eliza Wass to read and review. I remember reading about it in the publicity catalogue and thinking this sounds really good and being a short 240 pages should be quite a quick read. Well how wrong could I have been. I started with earnest reading and I immediately couldn't get into it. The writing seemed to be all over the place and I was constantly getting confused with what was happening when and who was who and their not really being too much of a back story to support what was happening. So after about 100 pages I was still struggling so thought I would look at goodreads to see what everyone else was thinking of the book. To my immense relief I wasn't the only one who seemed to be struggling with the story. There were so many people who felt the same way I did and even more people who DNF'd it but as with all books I try to not DNF any book and two weeks later I finally finished the book even more confused at the end then what I started out as. The concept that the author was going for sounded really good but she just didn't pull it off, the characters weren't exciting, everything felt kind of rushed and not detailed enough to give a solid understanding of what the author was going for. I hate not being able to say anything positive about the book but the only thing I really liked about the book was the cover. But that's just my opinion and you never know you might love the book so don't let this put you off reading it.
