Of Neptune

Emma and her gorgeous boyfriend Galen are desperate for
some time alone, away from their underwater sea kingdoms of Poseidon and
Triton.
They visited the small town of Neptune, which they are shocked
to find is home to land-dwelling, fresh-water Syrena. But there’s an
undercurrent of tension between the Syrena of Neptune and those from the sea.
Soon they are caught in a power struggle that threatens the future of both
their ocean kingdoms. Neptune holds another threat too: a charming Half-Breed
named Reed, who can barely disguise his feelings for Emma.
My review
Thoughts on the
book: I am so sad that this series is over. I really enjoyed getting to
know Galan and Emma and the Syrena world that they lived in. In Of Neptune,
Emma and Galan set off to spend some quality time together on land away from
everyone that they know. Emma’s grandfather tells her about this little town
called Neptune and that she should defiantly make it a stop on their road trip.
Upon entering the town they soon discover that the town in full of full-blooded
Syrena and half-blooded Syrena and that the underwater kingdoms don’t know
about it. They also seem to find themselves in a spot of bother too. I won’t
say much more about the storyline here but it is certainly the best ending that
you could imagine.
Once again Of Neptune is told from the Points Of View
(POV) of Emma and Galan. And I found that Emma has been searching for herself
and where she fits into the Syrena life and in Neptune she does. For as long as
she have known about Syrena people, she has been the only one that has been let
live and there has been this town here full of people like her the whole time
and her grandfather knew about it. It is a big eye opener for not only Emma but
also for Galen. Galen has always had a soft spot for humans but when it comes
to half-breeds it is a different matter, although he does accept Emma. Once he
finds out that Emma’s grandfather knew about the town the whole time and never
told anyone he feels betrayed and thinks the whole Syrena community will feel
the same. It is a huge predicament for him because he sees that Emma feels so
comfortable among these half-breeds and that she could have the life that he
could never give her with one of them. It is the ultimate dilemma
Favourite
character: I loved the addition of Reed and found him to be my favourite
character in Of Neptune. He wasn’t afraid to go after what he wanted (Emma) and
wasn’t scared to step on peoples toes to get what he wanted. Reed was also very
proud of who and what he was and even though he was stuck on land he still
tried and tried to become more like a full blooded Syrena than a half blood. He
believed that he had the same rights as full bloods and that they shouldn’t be
looked down on because of the life that they were born into and should be
accepted as if they were one of their own.
Favourite
quote/part:
“Emma, I will love you with every breath in my body and
beyond my own death. I swear to be your shield, your protector, your
worshipper. There is nothing I will deny you. I am yours”
Rating: 5/5 a
perfect ending to a perfect series
