Sometimes you have to leave everything behind to find yourself.

Sky is travelling to Alaska to meet her father for the first time.

Far away from her friends back in Australia, she navigates the new relationship with her father and meets Jaxon, a local boy struggling with his own problems. In a cold, vast and beautiful place, they are isolated except for the wild animals who live there.

As Sky gets to know her father, she finally feels she has a chance of having a real family again. But her father has a secret that threatens everything Sky holds dear. Will she have to choose between family and her love of animals?

This is a heartwarming story in the coldest of places.

My Review
Thoughts on the book: Snow is the second book in the Animal Allies series by the amazing Ondine Sherman. In book two Sky is on her way to meet her father, in Alaska of all places, for the first time with her mother's best friend Melody in tow, who she still hasn't forgiven after finding out she slept with her father when her mother was still in the picture. Upon meeting her father she tries to get to know him but it's hard when it seems like he is keeping secrets. With new family and a good looking boy in the picture everything should go along smoothly. But when Sky finally learns what her father is hiding she can't handle it and runs away. But when there is an accident everything gets pushed to the side and Sky realises what's important in her life.

A massive thank you to Pantera Press and AusYA Bloggers for allowing me to be part of the amazing book tour that took place last month by Snow by Ondine Sherman. I feel awful that I haven't posted my review here on my blog yet but I have been really sick lately with a horrible virus. Thankfully I am now on the mend and I'm getting back into blogging and writing all of my reviews of the books that I have sitting here. Having read sky earlier on in the year I was very excited to read Snow and find out what happens next with my favourite characters Sky, Lucy and Oliver. While I was disappointed to not see Oliver and Lucy as much as I wanted to in the book I did love the little snippets that I get did get to see you then. In saying that though I loved watching the progress of Sky in this book.

At the start of this book Sky has such high expectations of what her father will be liked and has this incident heard that he will fit right into what she believes. But as the relationship progresses that image changes and eventually she starts to realise that it doesn't matter what someone does look like, it's what's on the inside that counts and whether you can live with having them in your life or not.  Sky realises that she's already lost one parent and she doesn't want to lose another. It's really eye-opening and I just absolutely love watching their relationship grow and progress throughout the book. I can't wait to see what happens in the future with their relationship and how it will progress.

I think the animal rights that was so prominent in book one took a bit of a back burner here in book to say that the main part of the story was the growth sky goes through as a person but they're still moments out of it for the animal rights we talked about. My favourite part was when we got to learn more about the wolves in the area but I also loved learning about Alaska and what they do there. It was very interesting to read about how even though they do kill the animals every single part of that animal is somehow used back into that community. Whether it's by using the skin to make a rug, and dividing up the meat so that families in need can use it, or never leaving any of the animal left behind to attract more other animals to the area.

One thing that I didn't enjoy as much was the relationship that developed between Sky and Jaxon which caused a love triangle which I think wasn't needed. You can tell that obviously something was going to happen between the two of them because they seemed to bond together so quickly from the start, but you also didn't want anything to happen because of the amazing relationship that Oliver and Sky have. The book really didn't need this love triangle and I'm interested to see where Ondine Sherman takes it in book 3, Star which I can't wait to read.
